Better Than Tacos

Better Than Tacos is a one-hour comedy show written and performed by China Gonzalez. It was the first hour-long comedy show in Aotearoa New Zealand to be performed in both English and Spanish — a historic milestone for bilingual performance in this country.

About the Show

The show debuted at the NZ International Comedy Festival in 2021, followed by a full season at the Basement Theatre that same year. Part personal memoir, part cultural commentary, Better Than Tacos explores what it means to be a Latina in New Zealand — with warmth, wit, and more than a few laughs.
