Mi Casa, Su Casa

Mi Casa, Su Casa was a monthly show that ran from 2019 to 2020, aiming to diversify the audiences and performers at The Basement Theatre in Auckland. Each month, a different ethnic minority community took over the Basement Studio to perform in their own language, creating a unique and inclusive cultural experience.

About the Project

Mi Casa, Su Casa was a groundbreaking initiative that put community-led, multilingual performance at the heart of one of Auckland's most beloved independent theatre spaces. The project reflected Laenye's core kaupapa: that every artist in Tāmaki Makaurau should be able to make art in their own language, and that Kiwis of all backgrounds deserve to be exposed to the stories and traditions of the cultures they share a home with.
